Solution : Teacher , Students and Numbers Logic Riddle

You can read the original Puzzle Here:  Teacher Student and Numbers Logical Puzzle

Now the solution:

The four possible pairs of numbers are:
2,3
3,4
7,8
8,9

Explanation to Riddle :

Think it like this ..

Jack: I do not know your number.

This means jack does not have a 1 or 10 as if that was the case then since numbers were consecutive he would have been sure that Mary has 2 (if jack had 1) or 9(if jack had 10) . This is because numbers were between 1 to 10.

Mary : I also do not know your numbers.

This means Mary also does not have 1 or 10. Moreover as now Mary knows Jack also does not have 1 or 10 but she still says she does not know numbers of Jack. This implies she even does not have a 2 or 9. If she had a 2 or 9 , she would have been sure that Jack has a 3( if she had 2, as jack does not have 1) or Jack has a 8 (if she had a 9 , jack must have a 8 as he does not have 10 and numbers are to be consecutive).

Jack: Now I know your number

So now jack knows her number this is only possible if Jack has 2  as this means Mary has to have a 3 as she does not have 1.
Jack has a 3 , it would mean Mary has to have a 4 as she does not have  2 .
Jack has a 9 , so it would mean she has 8 as Mary does not have a 10.
Jack has a 8 so it would mean she has 7 as Mary does not have a 9.

Hence the possible pairs are
 2,3
3,4
7,8
8,9
